Abstract:

​The integration of artificial intelligence directly onto satellite hardware is redefining how space systems operate. This presentation covers the core missions driving onboard AI adoption, including real-time Earth observation, autonomous spacecraft control and cyber security, where low-latency decision-making is essential. The presentation summarizes the enabling technologies such as radiation-hardened edge processors and lightweight AI model architectures. Key challenges including fault tolerance, model validation, and in-orbit updates are also addressed. As constellations grow in scale, onboard AI is becoming a foundational capability for the next generation of intelligent space infrastructure.​
