제목: Gravitational lensing of gravitational waves 연사: Dr. Kyung Min Kim (한국천문연구원)

Abstract: The era of gravitational-wave (GW) astronomy has begun with the successful direct detection of GW signals emitted by the mergers of distant astrophysical compact objects such as black holes and neutron stars. In this new era, observed GWs offer insights into the hidden and previously unknown properties of these compact objects, as well as the dynamic phenomena they produce. Furthermore, they serve as a powerful tool for probing the cosmological nature, e.g., the Hubble constant, of the Universe. Among the many open topics in GW astronomy, gravitational lensing of gravitational waves (GW lensing) is considered one of the most promising phenomena likely to be observed in the near future. In this talk, I introduce the basics of GW lensing and current efforts to identify its signatures in GW data. I also discuss the potential impact of GW lensing on both astrophysics and cosmology. |
