Abstract:

Galactic Archaeology is a field that uses stellar and dwarf galaxy fossils around the Milky Way (MW) to reconstruct its formation and evolution history. In this talk, I introduce how large spectroscopic datasets, such as those from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST), together with astrometric data from Gaia, can be utilized to unravel the MW’s formation and evolution in the context of Galactic Archaeology. In particular, since identifying and analyzing substructures formed by stars accreted from disrupted dwarf galaxies provides key insights into the MW's assembly history, I will focus on methods to detect such substructures among disk and halo stars and to analyze their chemical and kinematic properties. Furthermore, I will discuss how detailed chemo-dynamical studies of metal-poor stars can shed light on the MW’s early chemical evolution and assembly processes.​
